The main character, or MC. Kate is kidnapped by scientists commissioned by an unknown entity to create an army of superpowered soldiers for use in challenging the gods. Her memories erased, she survives an etheric procedure to give her powers and then escapes the facililty into a world she does not recognize with only the name they gave her: Lio.

She is later scooped up by a famed military general rescuing displaced war refugees, and befriends some orphans at the camp.

When Kate was kidnapped, Marina tracked her down across the universe. She found her, escaped and alone, and joined her in moving into the refugee camp.
